September 10-16, 2007 will be the 17th Southern Comfort Conference in Atlanta, GA.

This annual gathering aims to unite everyone touched by transgender issues; whether you are pre-, post-, or non-op yourself, or have a family member, spouse or partner who is facing the challenges of transitioning, everyone is welcome at this week of seminars & social gatherings.

Dozens of daytime seminars will cover topics like health, politics, legal issues, race, sex, and spirituality as they relate to the trans community.

After dark, entertainers from the broad trans spectrum will keep things shaking with events like Trans Idol, Twinkledome, and the popular “So-Co-A-Go-Go” at different clubs around Atlanta. In between, enjoy organized shopping and dining around town, with plenty of opportunity for networking and socializing.

New to the conference this year is the Transgender Career Expo, produced in partnership with the Human Rights Campaign, on September 14th. At the expo, you’ll get a chance to learn more about how unemployment affects the trans community, and meet up with representatives from proactive companies committed to hiring people on the basis of their skills and experience alone.
